Oktoberfest – A blended style of Märzen and Fest Bier creates a perfectly malty lager with just a touch of sweetness. Created to pair perfectly with a Liter Stein.
Kölsch – A classic light German-style ale that is pale yellow with a slight hop bitterness. A very approachable and fest worthy brew!
Roggenbier – A dunkelweizen made with rye rather than wheat, but with a bigger body and light finishing hops. Flavors of spicy rye, pumpernickel bread, and a bit of malt sweetness.
Brewski – A German-style Dortmunder that is light, crispy, and easy drinking.

BEER RELEASE: The Richard IIPA Release – an annual favorite paying homage to the very first brew on our system back in 2012. Due to some miscalculations, we boiled off about 1/3 of the water during the brew, but continued to hop what was supposed to be Pocahoptas IPA, as if it were a full 30bbl batch. The result? A highly aromatic and hop forward double IPA clocking in at 8.5%. A happy accident for sure, but not the most cost effective beer we have ever brewed!

BEER RELEASE: A collaboration with our friends at Brown Distributing, this borderline Double Hazy IPA packs a wallop of flavor and aroma through the use of Citra and Mosaic and hops. Double dry hopped to create a tropical bouquet on the nose and pallet as you take each sip.
BEER RELEASE: The Town of Ashland helped us create an ever so smooth Amber Lager to celebrate 14 years of our partnership. A little caramel, a bit of toffee, and a hint of toasted bread makes this an instance fall classic!

Center of the Universe Brewing Company partners with local restaurant Casa Herradura to bring elevated Mexican Cuisine to the Hanover Airpark in Ashland, VA.
Ashland, VA – Center of the Universe Brewing Company (COTU) and Casa Herradura are excited to announce a new partnership at COTU’s main taproom in the Hanover Airpark in Ashland, VA, beginning September 18th.
Casa Herradura has just completed outfitting a brand new 28’ food trailer equipped with state-of-the-art appliances including a rotisserie, fryers, and everything else you would need in a standard brick and mortar location. It is a complete mobile chef’s kitchen ready to bring the level of quality and freshness that Ashland residents and visitors have come to expect from their flourishing location on Rt. 54 in Ashland.
Casa Herradura’s original location has been operating since 2021 in Downtown Ashland. They aimed to bring a community focused restaurant that concentrated not only on the quality of the food, but also its impact on their community. Though various sponsorships concentrating on the local schools and college, Casa Herradura quickly cemented itself as a gathering place for everyone in the community. They are so grateful for the support in return and wanted to expand their presence even further to continue on that tradition of quality food, quality service, and quality community support.

Casa Herradura Mobile Kitchen will be kicking things off at the brewery with a soft opening on Thursday, September 17th from 4pm – 9pm during COTU’s weekly trivia event, offering guests a chance to try the new food option a day before their official grand opening, which is being held on Friday, September 18th. For the grand opening, the brewery will be hosting live music from Jimmy Fitch from 5:30pm – 7:30pm and offering dinner specials all evening during the 4pm – 9pm service window. Going forward, you can enjoy Casa Herradura Thursday through Sunday every week during regular taproom hours. As an added bonus, the 2 companies have already started collaborating on fun themed days and nights, creating a unique food and beverage experience each time you visit.

Puzzle racing enthusiasts, this is it. This is for all the marbles, or uh, pieces. Introducing our inaugural puzzle racing championship! Looks similar to our monthly competitions, but with some important differences. See details below and be sure to sign your team up ahead of time to secure your slot!

Puzzle: 500 piece puzzle that will not be revealed until the event start. All teams/solo participants will be able to keep and take their puzzle home (assembled or disassembled). All teams receive the exact same puzzle.

1st Place: $100 COTU Gift Card + your picture and recognition on the COTU wall of fame.
2nd Place: $50 COTU gift Card
Solo participants or groups will be given the same 500 piece puzzle that was hand selected by the brewery. At 3pm on the dot, all participants can unveil their puzzle and get to work. The first 2 teams to finish the puzzle and alert the brewery’s puzzle master will win their respective prizes.

The Sauerkrauts – (12:00pm – 3:00pm)
The ACCA Temple (Shrine) Sauerkrauts German Band was formed in 1976 by Philip Johnson, then Potentate of ACCA Temple, with the assistance of a fellow ACCA Band clarinet player, Robert Ashworth. They play to raise funds for the 22 Shriner’s Hospitals where children are treated for orthopedic and burn conditions with no financial responsibility to the family. All net proceeds collected by the Band go either directly to the Shriner’s Hospital Foundation or into the Transportation Fund which is used to get the children and their families to and from the Hospitals

Remeniss is a five member band based in Richmond, Virginia. Their members are comprised of experienced professionals who are committed to delivering exceptional results for every client.
