Center of the Universe Brewski Lager Under the Cap Contest

Contest Dates: May 1, 2025 – June 30, 2025

Contest Description: In each Brewski 6-pack, there is a token that has a prize on it that is associated with Center of the Universe Brewing Co (COTU) and Brewski Lager. Prizes range from 20% of COTU swag, COTU and National Railroad Passenger Corporation (“Amtrak”) prize packs, tickets on Amtrak Virginia, and the grand prize trip for two to Baltimore aboard Amtrak to see the Orioles in Camden Yards.
Prize Redemption: All prizes must be redeemed at Center of the Universe Brewing Co. during normal taproom hours. Please see contest rules below for prize explanation and redemption procedures

1. Eligibility: Under the Cap Brewski Lager Contest (the “Contest”) is open to legal residents of Virginia only who are at least twenty-one (21) years of age at the time of purchase. Employees of Center of the Universe, Amtrak or other companies associated with the promotion of the contest are not permitted to win.

2. Sponsor: The contest is sponsored by Center of the Universe Brewing Co, located at 11293 Airpark Rd., Ashland, VA 23305.
This Contest is in no way sponsored by Amtrak. Amtrak trademarks and copyrights are used with permission of Amtrak. Visit Amtrak.com.

3. Agreement to Official Rules: Participation in the Contest constitutes entrant’s full and unconditional agreement and acceptance of these official rules of the Contest (“Official Rules”) and the decisions of the Sponsor (and/or Amtrak, as applicable), which are final and binding. Winning a prize is contingent upon being compliant with these Official Rules and fulfilling all other requirements set forth herein. Carefully read these Official Rules. By submitting any Entry, you indicate your agreement to be bound by these Official Rules.

Sponsor and Amtrak reserve the right, in their sole discretion, to modify, suspend, extend, or cancel the Contest (or any portion thereof) in the event Sponsor is prevented from executing the Contest as contemplated herein by any event beyond Sponsor’s control, including but not limited to: fire; flood; earthquake; explosion; public health epidemic or crisis; labor dispute or strike; act of God or public enemy; network or equipment failure; riot or civil disturbance; terrorist threat or activity; war (declared or undeclared); court order; or federal, state, or local government law, order, or regulation. Sponsor and Amtrak also reserve the right, in their sole discretion, to modify, suspend, extend, or cancel the Contest (or any portion thereof) should virus, bugs, unauthorized human intervention, or other causes or events corrupt administration, security, fairness, integrity, or proper operation of the Contest. In the event of cancellation, Sponsor may elect to identify the winner and award the prize by way of random drawing from among all non-suspect, eligible entries received up to the time of cancellation. Sponsor also reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to modify these Official Rules for clarification purposes without materially affecting the terms and conditions of the Contest.

4. Contest Period: The Contest begins on May 1st 2025 at 12:01am EST and ends on June 30th 2025 at 11:59pm EST. Entries submitted before or after the Contest Period will be disqualified.

5. How to Enter: Entries can be obtained through tokens located in Brewski Lager 6-pack cans or by sending a self-addressed stamped to the address listed in Section 2 above. Participants in the Contest will receive one (1) entry for each 6-pack of Brewski Lager purchased during the Contest Period. Limit one (1) entry per person/household for those participating by mail. Please see the privacy policy located at https://www.amtrak.com/privacy-policy for details of Amtrak’s policy regarding the use of personal information collected in connection with this Contest.

6. Prize Redemption: All prizes must be redeemed by either bringing your winning chip into Center of the Universe Brewing Co during normal taproom operating hours, or by mailing your chip to the address above. 20% off COTU Merch coins can only be redeemed in person at Center of the Universe Brewing Co.

7. Prizes: ALL PRIZES MUST BE REDEEMED AT CENTER OF THE UNIVERSE BREWING CO. OR BY MAIL.

1.20% off COTU Merch: This token is good for 20% one (1) Center of the Universe swag item. 20% off cannot be used on alcohol purchases. These tokens are only valid in person, at the physical brewery location. 20% off tokens expire on December 31, 2025.

2.Brewski/Amtrak Prize Pack: This token is good for a prize pack from Amtrak Virginia and Center of the Universe Brewing Co. These tokens can be redeemed only at Center of the Universe Brewing Co during normal taproom hours. Prize packs will not be available for shipping. This token expires on December 31, 2025.

3. Two (2) Roundtrip Amtrak Tickets: This token is good for two (2) roundtrip coach train tickets aboard Amtrak Virginia’s Northeast Regional that originate and end in Virginia. Tokens can only be redeemed by either mailing the token to the PO Box above or by coming into Center of the Universe Brewing Co during normal taproom hours. This token expires on December 31, 2025.Restrictions: Travel must be completed within one year of the Certificate Issue Date • Restricted Travel Dates in 2025: Apr. 17-18, 21, May 23, 26, Jul.
3, 6, Aug. 29, Sep. 1, Nov. 25-26, 29-30, Dec. 1, 20-24 26- 31. • Restricted Travel Dates in 2026: Jan. 2-4, Feb. 13, 16, Apr. 5-6, 2026. • Ticket(s) are subject to availability, non-transferable, and non-cashable. Tickets are not good for stopovers, cannot be extended past one year of Certificate Issue Date, and are non-negotiable for changes or substitutions. • Traveler(s) are responsible for payment of any additional ticket(s) and upgrades on the reservation. • Any changes to the reservation will be at the traveler(s) expense. • All ticket(s) must be booked on one reservation. • Travel subject to Amtrak Conditions of Carriage/Terms of Transportation, found on Amtrak.com. • Additional promotions or sales cannot be applied. Estimated retail value $500.

4.Grand Prize: 2 Roundtrip coach tickets aboard Amtrak originating in Virginia with the final destination of Baltimore, MD Penn Station, and then returning to Virginia. Also included are 2 tickets to a Baltimore Orioles game during the 2025 regular season, subject to availability, and a $300 Marriot gift card for lodging. Restrictions: Travel must be completed within one year of the Certificate Issue Date • Restricted Travel Dates in 2025: Apr. 17-18, 21, May 23, 26, Jul. 3, 6, Aug. 29, Sep. 1, Nov. 25-26, 29-30, Dec. 1, 20-24 26- 31. • Restricted Travel Dates in 2026: Jan. 2-4, Feb. 13, 16, Apr. 5-6, 2026. • Ticket(s) are subject to availability, non-transferable, and non-cashable. All winners may be required to execute, have notarized, and return an Affidavit of Eligibility and Release of Liability and, unless prohibited by law, a Release of Publicity, within five (5) days of the date of issuance.

Prizes are not transferable. No substitutions or exchanges of any prize (including for cash) will be permitted, except that Sponsor reserves the right to substitute a prize of comparable or greater value for any prize. Sponsor will not replace any lost or stolen prizes or prize components. Only the number of prizes stated in these Official Rules are available to be won in the Contest.

Winner and his or her guest (“Companion”) must travel together on the same itinerary. The Sponsor or its designee will not replace any lost or stolen tickets, travel vouchers or certificates or similar items once they are in the winner’s possession. Any unclaimed or unused prize (or portion of the prize package) will remain the property of Sponsor.

Any amendment fees or charges incurred due to any changes to the purchased train tickets are the responsibility of the winner. All costs not explicitly set forth in these Official Rules are the sole responsibility of the winner, and Sponsor nor Amtrak will not provide any compensation or reimbursement for these costs, including Visa requirements, valid passports, travel insurance, spending money, meals, taxes (excluding train taxes), vaccinations, transfers, items of a personal nature, excess baggage, in-room charges, other ancillary costs, and any applicable insurance excesses. Train travel is subject to Amtrak’s Terms and Conditions and Amtrak’s Service Standards.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Companion (and, if Companion is under the age majority (a “Minor”), also Companion’s parent or legal guardian) may be required to sign a liability/publicity release to be eligible to travel with winner. To be eligible to travel to, a Companion that is a Minor must be at least 13 years old and accompanied by his or her parent or legal guardian on the trip. Companion (and Companion’s parent or legal guardian if a Minor) agrees to release and indemnify Sponsor and Amtrak pursuant to these Official Rules, and as otherwise set forth in a liability/publicity release.

8.Taxes. All federal, state and/or local income and other taxes, if any, are the winner’s sole responsibility.

9.Release of Limitations of Liability: By participating in the Contest, entrants agree to release and hold harmless the Sponsor, National Railroad Passenger Corporation, and each of the their respective parents, subsidiaries, affiliates, advertising and promotion agencies, other companies associated with the Contest, and each of their respective officers, directors, employees, shareholders, representatives, and agents (collectively, Released Parties) from and against any claim or cause of action arising out of participation in the Contest or receipt or use of the prizes, including, but not limited to (a) any technical errors associated with the Contest, including lost, interrupted or unavailable Internet Service Provider (ISP), network, server, wireless service provider, or other connections, availability, or accessibility or miscommunications or failed computer, satellite, telephone, cellular tower, or cable transmissions, lines, or technical failure or jumbled, scrambled, delayed, or misdirected transmissions or computer hardware or software malfunctions, failures or difficulties: (b) unauthorized human intervention in the Contest; (c) mechanical, network, electronic, computer, human, printing or typographical errors; (d) any other errors of problems in connection with the Contest, including, without limitation, error that may occur in the administration of the Contests, the prizes, the cancellation or postponement of the vent and/or the flyover, if applicable, or in any Contest-related materials; or (e) injury, death, losses or damages of any kind, to persons or property which may be caused, directly or indirectly, in whole or in part, from entrants participation in the Contest or acceptance, receipt or misuse of the prize (including any travel or activity related thereto). Entrant further agrees that in any cause of action, the Released Parties liability will be limited to the cost of entering and participating in the Contest, and in no event shall the entrant be entitled to receive attorney’ fees. Released Parties are also not responsible for any incorrect or inaccurate information, whether caused by site users, tampering, hacking, or by any equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the Contest. Entrants waive the right to claim any damages whatsoever, including, but not limited to, punitive, consequential, direct, or indirect damages. By entering the Contest, each entrant gives his/her express permission to be contacted by Sponsor and/or Amtrak by telephone, email, and/or postal mail for Contest purposes. The winner, by acceptance of the prize, grants to Sponsor, Amtrak, and each of their respective designees the right to publicize his/her name, city and state of residence, prize information, photograph, voice, statements, and/or other likeness for advertising, promotional, trade, and any other purpose, in any media or format now known or hereafter devised, throughout the world, in perpetuity, without limitation and without further compensation, consideration, permission or notification, unless prohibited by law. 10.INDEMNIFICATION: By submitting an entry, to the maximum extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify Sponsor, the Released Entities against any and all claims, expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees, costs and settlement costs), and/or judgments whatsoever, due to or arising out of: (a) his or her participation in this Contest; (b) his or her breach of these Official Rules and/or (c) his or her violation of any rights of another individual or entity.

11.ARBITRATION; CLASS ACTION WAIVER: As a condition of entering this Contest, each entrant agrees that (a) any and all disputes, claims, controversies, or causes of action arising out of or relating to this Contest or any prizes awarded (each, a “Claim”) shall be (i) arbitrated on an individual basis only and shall not be consolidated or joined with or in any arbitration or other proceeding involving a Claim of any other party and (ii) settled by binding arbitration in New York County, New York before a single arbitrator appointed by JAMS in accordance with its then governing rules and procedures, and judgment on the award rendered by the arbitrator may be entered by any court having jurisdiction thereof; and (b) under no circumstance will entrant be permitted to obtain awards for, and entrant hereby waives all rights to claim, punitive, incidental, consequential, or any other damages, other than for actual out-of-pocket expenses. For New Jersey residents, the limitations set forth above may be inapplicable where attorneys’ fees, court costs, or other damages are mandated by statute. These Official Rules shall be governed by and construed and interpreted in accordance with the laws of the State of Virginia, U.S.A, applicable to contracts entered into and performed exclusively in that State.

12.General Conditions. CAUTION: ANY ATTEMPT TO DELIBERATELY DAMAGE ANY WEBSITE ASSOCIATED WITH THIS CONTEST OR UNDERMINE THE CONTENT OR LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THIS CONTEST MAY BE A VIOLATION OF CRIMINAL AND CIVIL LAWS AND, SHOULD SUCH AN ATTEMPT BE MADE, SPONSOR WILL DISQUALIFY ANY ENTRANT RESPONSIBLE FOR THE ATTEMPT AND SPONSOR, MLB, AND THEIR RESPECTIVE AGENTS RESERVE THE RIGHT TO SEEK DAMAGES (INCLUDING ATTORNEYS’ FEES) AND OTHER REMEDIES FROM ANY PERSON(S) RESPONSIBLE FOR THE ATTEMPT TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.

The decisions of Sponsor and/or Amtrak are final and binding on all matters relating to this Contest. Released Parties are not responsible for stolen, late, incomplete, illegible, inaccurate, misdirected, lost, misrouted, scrambled, damaged, delayed, undelivered, mutilated, postage-due, or garbled entries, transmissions, email, or mail; lost, interrupted, or unavailable network, cable, satellite, server, Internet Service Provider (ISP), wireless network, website, or other connections; availability, accessibility, miscommunications, or failures of computer, satellite, telephone, cable, or wireless transmissions or lines; computer hardware or software malfunctions, failures, or difficulties; wireless service congestion; failures or malfunctions of phones, phone lines, telephone systems, wireless towers, or cellular tower equipment; any error, omission, interruption, defect, or delay in wireless or other transmission, processing, or communication; printing, typographical, or other errors appearing within these Official Rules, in any Contest-related advertisements, or other materials; cancellation or postponement of any Amtrak train; or any other errors, problems, or difficulties of any kind, whether human, mechanical, electronic, or other, relating to the Contest, including, without limitation, errors or difficulties which may occur in connection with administration of the Contest, processing of entries, announcement of the winner, or any Contest-related materials. Released Parties are also not responsible for any incorrect or inaccurate information, whether caused by website users (e.g., hacking) or by any equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the Contest. Released Parties are not responsible for injury or damage to entrant’s or to any other person’s computer and/or wireless device related to or resulting from participating in this Contest or downloading materials from or use of the Contest website. Persons who tamper with or abuse any aspect of the Contest or website; attempt to undermine the legitimate operation of the Contest by cheating, deception, or other unfair playing practices; intend to annoy, abuse, threaten, or harass any other entrant or any representative of Sponsor and/or Amtrak; or who are in violation of these Official Rules, as solely determined by Sponsor and/or Amtrak, will be disqualified and all associated entries will be void. Sponsor and/or Amtrak shall have the sole right to disqualify any entrant for violation of these Official Rules or any applicable laws relating to the Contest and to resolve all disputes in its sole discretion. Released Parties (a) make no warranty, guaranty, or representation of any kind concerning the prize (or any portion thereof) and (b) disclaim any implied warranty. Sponsor’s failure to enforce any term of these Official Rules shall not constitute a waiver of that provision.

Get Rover ready to show off his best tricks and his cutest costume, Growl-O-Ween is back!
Join us at Center of the Universe Brewing Co. as we hold our favorite dog-themed event.
We’re teaming up with the Hanover Humane society to raise money to fund their mission of educating the people of Hanover County about the proper treatment of animals and rescuing animals and caring for them until they find their forever home.
We’ve got a ton going on for this event, Anderson Highway will be rocking out live on the beer garden stage, and Flavor Chariot is going to be serving up some delicious eats. We’ll also have a ton of dog themed events going on including a costume competition and trick competitions!

Live Music: Anderson Highway – 2-6pm
Food Truck: Flavor Chariot – 4-8pm

*This event is free to attend and open to all ages. For the safety of all dogs and humans present, please keep your dog on a leash for the duration of the event*

Center of the Universe Brewing Company (COTU), a production brewery located in Ashland, VA (Metro Richmond Area), is seeking a full-time production member to add to our team. We are looking for a highly motivated and skilled brewer/cellar person to continue our 11 years of crafting award winning and exceptionally consistent beer in central Virginia. In addition to being an all around awesome person, the ideal candidate will possess the following skills:

Previous commercial brewing experience a plus
Commitment to quality and consistency
Ability and willingness to diligently follow recipes and procedures
Attention to detail and documentation
Ability to lift 55lbs and move 160lbs when necessary
Excellent sensory analysis
Have at least as much passion for producing great beer as we do

Duties:

Operating and maintaining a 15bbl brewhouse
Cellar duties from CIP to fermentation monitoring
Operation and cleaning/sanitizing packaging and kegging equipment
Cleaning and sanitation of the brewhouse and cellar
Work with partner(s) to perfect recipes and processes
Basic maintenance and repairs
Quality Control
Produce amazing beer

Days/Hours:

Monday – Friday
Daytime hours

Open Mic Night

What to Expect:
🎤 Open Mic Session: Sing your heart out or enjoy the talent, host provides PA with two microphones on boom stands, two DI boxes, two guitar cables, and a Bluetooth receiver.
What do you need to bring? You, an instrument or backing tracks on a Bluetooth compatible device if you need it.
🍻 Drinks: Choose from craft beer, cider, or wine.

Private Events Room Capacity

Beverage tickets can be purchased in advance or guests can use our cash bar.

Full audio/video hookups with ceiling mounted projected and dropdown screen.

Arcade located in the private event space.

Private restroom located inside the space.

Parties greater than 60 guests can reserve the event space for food setup and then access the public areas of the brewery as well to spread out.
